Shakti Gawain (September 30, 1948 – November 11, 2018) was a pioneer in the field of personality and consciousness development.

She was able to harmoniously combine the rationalism of the Western mind with the intuitive wisdom of the East. She studied psychology and dance at Reed College and the University of California. After graduating from university, she traveled for two years in Europe and Asia, studying Eastern philosophy, meditation and yoga.

Returning to America, she paid special attention to the process of her own growth, she read widely and studied with many famous teachers related to the movement for the development of human potential. Her long-term study of philosophy and psychology culminates in the best-selling book Creative Visualization.
